According to a May 2026 article in the New Yorker, nearly 30% of people are planning on going into debt to pay for a vacation. A quarter of Disney vacation seekers go into debt. That debt can exceed tens of thousands of dollars.

The amount of money you end up spending is difficult to calculate, the cost of the parks plus the airfare plus the hotel is not the final number, it is only the beginning. Whatever you think you are going to pay it is probably, very probable, a lot more. Food (Disney dining plan or no), lighting lanes, photo pass, merch, alcohol/wine (if you are bringing teenagers, this is something you have to budget for yourself), transport to and from the airport are just a few and don’t forget the alcohol/wine, also the food, and the merch.
